File Compatibility & Cutting Notes

Kismet digital cut files are created for CNC plasma, laser and compatible design and cutting software. File formats vary by listing, so check the included formats before purchasing.

Check the file format before you buy

Read the individual product's Files Included section and confirm that your design or CAM software can import those formats. A listing that includes DXF does not necessarily include SVG, DWG or other formats. If you are unsure, contact Kismet with the product title or SKU and your software name.

Use the original size as your starting point

Many Kismet designs are prepared around a .051-inch kerf at the original design size. Before reducing a design, check bridges, gaps, interior openings, lead-in clearance and cut integrity for your machine and material.

Review the toolpaths before cutting

Confirm the imported dimensions in your software and review the toolpaths in your CAM workflow. Machine capabilities, material thickness, kerf, post-processing and cutting settings vary by equipment and remain the buyer's responsibility.

Frequently asked questions

Will every file work with every machine?

No universal machine compatibility is promised. Confirm the included file format and check the design in your own software before cutting.

Can I make a design smaller?

Check the listing's original size first. Reducing the artwork also reduces its small features, so verify bridges, openings and clearances before cutting.

Where can I learn what makes a file cut-ready?
